• Location

The first and the foremost decision are on location of the kitchen. Make sure that you have your kitchen in the South East corner of the house. This is the best place to have your cooking area. The next best choice is North West corner. Some of the directions which are not at all recommended for having a kitchen are North East, Mid North, Mid West, Mid South, South West and Center of the house. If you have your kitchen at any of these locations then you must have it changed.

• Cooking Direction

The next important point to keep in mind is the direction you face while cooking food. The best direction to face is East and it is where the Sun rises and it is the purest source of energy which is extremely auspicious.

• Placement of Gas Stove

While placing your gas stove, you need to make sure that your direction of cooking stays East. Your gas stove should not be visible from the outside as it may cause digestion issues amongst family members. You must not place it anywhere close to the washing area. You are required to maintain maximum gap between water and fire as they repel each other.

• Placement of Sink

The perfect zone to have sink is in the North East zone. You can have your washing area in this direction. If you have dishwasher then place it on this side only.

• Placement of Drinking Water

You are advised to place water cooler or any other kind of drinking water in North East only.

• Placement of Appliances

There are all sorts of appliances in the kitchen. Make sure that you place them correctly. As per Vastu Shastra, you must place your refrigerator in South West side. Placement of exhaust fans should always be done in South East corner on the eastern walls. All the other electronic appliances should be places in South East direction.

• Storage in Kitchen

There are so many things that need to be stored in the kitchen. It is good to go for big and elaborated storage units over small ones as they give a clean and nice look to your kitchen. Do not have any storage over your cooking range. If you want to place things that are light then North East is a good direction.

• Doors and Windows

You need to make sure that your kitchen has good cross ventilation as it will always keep your spaces fresh. The best place to have big windows is on the Eastern side. You can have smaller windows in South direction.

• Paints on the Wall

Some of the colors which you can use in your kitchen are green, orange and soft pink.

Other Important Points:

• Never have toilets adjacent, below or above the kitchen.
• If you are placing clocks then South West or South walls are the best choices
• Do not serve food in the center of the kitchen.
